EyesOpen! is a non profit association born from an idea of Manuela Cigliutti and Barbara Silbe. The exclamation point in our name talks about our enthusiasm and is an exhortation to keep our eyes open to face what we have in front of us, to focus looking and thinking with images: the ones produced by other people, the ones we should decide to realize or buy for our collection. Put together a photo editor and a journalist, and both are also photographers, and the result is a product with many faces transformed in a quarterly publication too.
The aim of the paper magazine is to spread photographic culture through iconographic and literary contributions of photographers, writers, critics and journalists, while the namesake non profit association will promote international young talents work and will find connections inside the authors community. To support us mean doing something concrete for photography.
EyesOpen! is also a website, the one you are surfing if you are reading this text, and it is a space continuously updated with news, contacts, back issues and infos. On line, in our pages and with different events arranged from time to time, we will deepen the most interesting topics about photography in order to introduce you to a growing number of professional photographers in each subject area.
In our paper or virtual spaces, and in person, we are going to talk about photography in a simple and together caught way, because in these times this young art seems to be so public thanks to digital technology and social network, indeed it is more difficult the deep knowledge of its grammar. Paradoxically, the link between thinking and seeing has become weaker. We will try to fill these gaps. Photography is, after all, an art within the reach of many, if not of all. Is something preserving our memory and that makes us observe things never seen before.
EyesOpen! is the most original Italian publication of the sector.
